A modern Hero’s Journey book recommendation: The Marrow Thieves by Cherie Dimaline.

I enjoy finding modern stories that follow the traditional Hero’s Journey stages.  These books remind us of the universality and constancy of the Hero’s Journey path.

Dimaline’s book is about a dystopian future, with a strong environmental and spiritual message targeted for young adult readers. (That never stops this 65-year-old from reading any book.)

I especially enjoyed the author’s take on mentor roles that are clearly defined, powerful, yet fallible.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
