Your capacity for choice is integral to your Hero’s Journey.
Choice: to treat your goal as a Hero’s Journey.
Choice: be a mentor for someone on their Journey.
Choice: decide to be an ally for someone on their Journey.
Choice: deal with this obstacle right away or let it build up and (maybe) get stronger
Choice: turn left or right; rest or keep plodding along; be loud or quiet, step in or hold back, etc.
I recently read a book* that had a line that made me stop and think for a while, “. . . sometimes rotten things fly off people’s tongues because they’re mean, but mostly it’s because they’re scared.”
I thought about that line because I have a part of me that can be very mean. Mean to myself, mean to family, mean to random people, mean in the little one-act plays I put on in my mind. Until I read this line, I never thought of myself as reacting meanly because I was scared. When I was younger I liked this part of me because it made me feel powerful; like I won the interaction. Now I don’t like that part of me and now I understand why.
Choice: be willing to analyze your self
Choice: be willing to change
What will you do with your choices today?
